MaiPed is designed with privacy at its core. Your data stays on your Mac — we don’t collect, track, or sell any personal information.
Effective: March 8, 2026MaiPed is a native macOS application developed by Stephan Bergdolt (“we”, “us”, “our”) based in Germany. It is a dual-pane file manager with integrated SVN version control, FTP/SFTP client, and optional AI-powered features.
MaiPed does not collect any personal data automatically. There are no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no crash reporting services integrated into the app.
MaiPed does not collect or transmit:
MaiPed stores all configuration and user data locally on your Mac in the application’s sandboxed container at ~/Library/Application Support/MaiPed/. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly initiate an action that requires network communication (see sections 4 and 5).
All databases use restricted file permissions (owner read/write only) and are protected by macOS’s App Sandbox security framework.
MaiPed offers optional AI-powered features through its StacyAI assistant, including code review, commit message generation, and test data creation. These features are entirely optional and only activated when you explicitly configure and use them.
| Provider | Type | Data Destination |
|---|---|---|
| Ollama | Local | localhost — no data leaves your Mac |
| LM Studio | Local | localhost — no data leaves your Mac |
| OpenAI | Cloud | api.openai.com |
| Anthropic | Cloud | api.anthropic.com |
| Mistral | Cloud | api.mistral.ai |
You have full control over which provider receives your data. For maximum privacy, use Ollama or LM Studio — these run entirely on your Mac with no external network communication. Each AI task can be independently assigned to a different provider.
When using cloud providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral), your data is subject to the respective provider’s privacy policy. MaiPed does not store your data on any intermediate server — requests go directly from your Mac to the provider’s API.
API keys for LLM providers are stored locally on your Mac in the application’s sandboxed database. They are never transmitted to us or any third party — only to the provider you configured, as authentication for API requests.
MaiPed includes an optional feedback form that allows you to contact us directly from the app. If you choose to send feedback, the following information is transmitted:
This data is sent to our contact server (thaihub.de) solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. We do not use this data for marketing, profiling, or any other purpose.
MaiPed connects to SVN repositories and FTP/SFTP servers that you configure. These connections are made directly between your Mac and your servers. Credentials are stored locally and only transmitted to the servers you specify — never to us or any third party.
MaiPed offers a one-time “Pro” upgrade through the Mac App Store. All purchase transactions are handled exclusively by Apple through their StoreKit framework. We do not receive or store any payment information, credit card details, or billing data. For information about how Apple handles purchase data, please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
MaiPed does not require user registration, account creation, or login. There are no user IDs, profiles, or authentication systems within the app itself. The Pro upgrade is managed entirely through your Apple ID via the Mac App Store.
MaiPed runs within macOS’s App Sandbox, which restricts the app’s access to system resources. The app requests the following permissions:
All permissions follow the principle of least privilege and are required for the app’s core file management functionality.
MaiPed does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party communication occurs when:
MaiPed is a professional software development tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since all data is stored locally on your Mac, you have complete control over it at all times. To delete all MaiPed data:
~/Library/Application Support/MaiPed/Feedback messages sent to us are retained only for the duration needed to respond to your inquiry and are then deleted.
As a Germany-based developer, we comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since MaiPed stores virtually all data locally on your device, most GDPR rights are automatically fulfilled — you already have full access to and control over your data.
You have the right to:
If you have sent us feedback and wish to have that data deleted, please contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since MaiPed does not collect contact information, we recommend checking this page periodically.
